I've chosen to put myself through this madness because let's face it, whose life hasn't been affected by cancer. Over the years i have seen too many people succumb to this most hateful of diseases and seen the devastation and heartbreak it can cause to sufferers and their loved ones. I have also fought by own personal battle against Thyroid cancer, and was told by my consultant that 20 years ago I wouldn't be here now as the radioactive iodine therapy used to treat Thyroid cancer didn't exist then. I have been incredibly lucky in comparison to most cancer sufferers and yet still went through a horrendous period of pure fear and dread not knowing what was ahead, others go through much, much worse. If me getting my lazy backside into gear and running this half marathon means that i can raise some funds towards the ongoing research into cancer then every single step will be worth it. If anyone would like to sponsor me i would be genuinely grateful.
