Story
My dear family and friends!
Having lived in the UK for close to 5 years now, I thought it would be a good idea to adopt the local culture and do something good for society by engaging in a charitable event.
So I have pledged to join the HSBC team and conquer the 3 highest mountains in the UK in 24hrs... and I am looking for you to donate to this event to raise money for our chosen charity, "Action against Hunger".
I will be giving something back in return for your donations... so please read on, and then donate on my website: www.justgiving.com/Victoria-Mallinckrodt
Victoria's FAQs:
Q. Am I just sponsoring you to do something fun?
A. No. You are not paying for my activity. I am paying to undertake the activity, but we decided as a team to do this for charity and as such I have a sponsorship target to meet.
Q. Are you actually sacrificing anything? Where's the hardship here? Last time I sponsored you to run up the stairs of some tall building my money only sponsored pain for less than 9 minutes.
A. There is a lot of hardship! Consider spending 24 stressful hours with a bunch of bankers, getting lost, walking in the dark... It will be very frustrating. In addition, I will pledge not to consume anything but basic sandwiches and water during the hike, in honour of the "Action against Hunger" charity (unless I am close to fainting and need a sugar hit). http://www.thethreepeakschallenge.co.uk/
Q. Do I get something in return?
A. YES! Here's the fun part. I am organising an event to give something back to those who donate:
Your donation will serve as a ticket to join me for one or both of the below activities:
1. Walking tour from Kings Cross to Regents Park, 2pm, Sunday 30th June
You may have heard me rave about my friend Marie-Eve who is a London encyclopedia and has offered to conduct a guided walk from Kings Cross to Regents Park on Sunday, 30th June. Her walks are always really interesting and will open your eyes to the weird and wonderful things that make London such a special place to live in. The walk will start at the new Kings Cross train station, at 2pm by the Harry Potter 9 3/4 platform and end in Regents Park around 4pm.
2. Picnic in Regents park, 4pm, Sunday 30th June
We will end the walk with a picnic in Regents Part, where I will provide food, refreshing beverages and a frisbee for some afternoon entertainment. Location to be advised. I really hope that as many of you can make it on the day - and that it provides enough encouragement for you to donate to my worthy cause.
Q: I don't live in London. What do I get?
A: You will get something, too. For those of you who do not live in London, I can offer a commemorative photo and preferential treatment when you come to London and need a place to stay. You may also suggest toppings for my sandwiches.
Lots of hugs and kisses and thank you very much for donations to my page at www.justgiving.com/Victoria-Mallinckrodt
