Story
We’re six middle-aged spreads - sorry, that should be blokes - plus one in his twenties who all should know better. But we don’t...because we’ve set ourselves a massive target of raising £200,000 for the RSPCA in York! They do fantastic work with animals which have been neglected or cruelly treated.
We’re going to be following in the footsteps of the Top Gear guys, riding in Vietnam on some hair-raising and crazy roads, starting in Denang, going all the way down to Ho Chi Minh City….on mopeds! This is going to be one of the biggest challenges of my life!
The total cost of the trip is going to be entirely funded by ourselves, so every penny you donate - 100% - will go to the RSPCA. This is not one of those challenges where the first few thousand of what’s donated pays for our airfare or accommodation, absolutely no way. As at the beginning of November, we’ve spent £12,500, and we’ve still got our vaccinations to pay for.
We plan to complete around 800 miles along coastal roads and mountain passes in six days, all being well. If we run into any issues on the road, either with the bikes, or the bigger problems on the road - that’s cows, goats, snakes, and chickens! - then we’ve allowed ourselves an extra 2 days spare.
The bikes that we’re hiring will be between 125cc and 150cc and hopefully they’ll be reliable and won’t break down...fingers crossed!
We’re also going to be using our own annual leave for this, so we’d better make it back on time or else!
Thank you for donating; you’re helping to ease the suffering of a lot of innocent animals who have no voice.
