We support research & wellbeing projects to help those with childhood brain tumours

Story

Skye Benjamin Hall was four years old when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour on 27th August 2013. It was diagnosed as a Grade IV metastatic medulloblastoma, which is the most commonly occurring paediatric brain tumour. Up until the month before, he had been a healthy and happy little boy.

Although the doctors said it had been caught early, it had already metastasised throughout the brain and spinal cord.

Skye underwent surgery, followed by chemotherapy, hyper-fractioned radiotherapy and then High Dose Chemotherapy over the next few months.

However, instead of getting stronger, it was apparent that Skye was getting weaker, and an emergency MRI scan in the May revealed that there were White Matter Lesions within the brain and spinal cord.

Despite everything he had endured, Skye remained brave and strong, but he sadly died at home on 29th August 2014, aged 5 years and 9 months.

Skye's younger brother Jesse, shown in the photo, is one of Libby's best friends at school, and I am constantly amazed by the bravery shown by Jesse and his parents following the loss of their lovely little boy.

Blue Skye Thinking supports research into the treatment of childhood brain tumours, striving to give all children diagnosed a better chance of survival, and improved quality of life during and post treatment. Run by volunteers, money donated goes directly to the forefront of research and wellbeing projects.
