We tackle gender inequality and violence to improve the lives of women and girls

Story

We are fundraising in memory of our Mum, sister, daughter, lover and friend Janice Teale. Janice was a special woman who dedicated her life to her family and the community of Wythenshawe.

After a short battle with illness, Janice passed away on New Years Day with her family by her side.

Mum was passionate about lots of things, but especially helping people and animals in need. Therefore we have nominated two charities that we'd really appreciate some support in raising for.

The first is Women's Aid Manchester. Given Janice devoted over 40 years of her life to helping and supporting victims of crime, we felt that it was so important to raise money for a charity that helps people. Women's Aid Manchester support women that have experienced domestic violence, something that Janice specialised in when supporting people. She helped hundreds of women across Greater Manchester take control of their lives, improve their self-esteem and give them the confidence to take control of their life, despite the ordeals that they had suffered.

The second is the PDSA. Despite spending long periods of her live enduring financial strain, Janice could not help but take in stray cats to live with her beloved dog Oscar. She was a softie for animals in need and as a woman that suffered with her mental health from childhood, her pets gave her great comfort at times of need. Therefore it felt right to raise money for a charity we know that she loved and cherished.

As JustGiving does not allow you set up a page for two charities we have set it up this way to allow us to split the money evenly between the two charities. There will also be a donation box on the day of her funeral, if you would like to donate on the day.

Thank you for your ongoing love and support. We have lost the very best and the stories, pictures and memories really do provide comfort to the entire family.

Rest in peace Janice, if anyone deserves a rest it is you xx
