Story
Hello, and welcome to the Donation Page for Wag Marshall-Page!
As some of you dropping by will know, my lovely Mama passed away a year ago from cancer. Though she fought it with everything she had, ultimately it was a battle from which she could never emerge the victor.
It was an incredibly tough year, but in amongst the sadness was also an abundance of love, laughter and adventure. Though so very poorly, she was still a shining light radiating her passion for people and life wherever she ventured, on all whose lives she touched.
Some of those who played an important part in her final days were the Marie Curie nurses. These selfless girls would come and sit with Mama through the time that she feared the most, the night. They'd watch over her through the darkness, trading stories from their respective lives, bonding over sweets, chocolate and anecdotes, and monitoring her as she slept.
Myself and my family are hugely indebted to the work of the Marie Curie nurses. Their love and care for Mama through the night allowed us to grab pockets of sleep, recharging our batteries, so we could give the best of ourselves to her during the day.
It's for these ladies and the memory of my beloved Mother, that in June 2011 I will don tight spandex and a big helmet, and hit the open road cycling 500km from London to Paris.
Any amount you can afford to donate will be massively appreciated, and will help ensure that these true superheroes can continue to make a difference to us and our loved ones in our darkest of hours.
My big love and thanks to you,
Wag x
27th SEPTEMBER 2010 - UPDATE.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of all those who have donated so far, I have reached the target set by the bike ride crowd. I've just nudged the ceiling up in order to hopefully carry on bringing in the sponsorship for these wonderful ladies.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much to all who have helped hit this first goal today, which incidentally is a year to the day since Mama passed away.
28th SEPTEMBER 2010 - UPDATE
That's another target reached - Thank you SO so much. I'm going to keep raising the bar while your kind donations continue to come in. There really is no cap to the amount I would love to raise for these incredible people.
Again, massive MASSIVE thanks to you all x
