Story

We’re back…Thank you to everyone who supported us and donated last year, we were able to exceed our fundraising target and make a difference to the Air Ambulance Charity in memory of Wayne. They were overwhelmed with the support and amount of money raised.

Those of you who followed our progress on the day will know our walk ended up falling on one of the hottest days of the year! So whilst most people were sitting indoors in front of an emergency fan we were in the Lakes.

Heat stroke set in, blisters were popped, toe nails were lost! The team did amazingly well to push on as far as they could, however some didn’t make the 100km target so we agreed we would attempt the full distance again in 2024. It seemed like a good idea at the time!

So here goes take two, wish us and our feet luck...we'll need it! On 6th July 24 we’re taking part in the Peak District Ultra Challenge, walking continuously for 100km each.

On 5th July 2022 Wayne sadly passed away. We decided to take part in an Ultra Challenge to commemorate the anniversary and now 2 years since we lost Wayne. We very much want to celebrate the fun we had with Wayne and reminisce on our time spent with him.

Where do we begin describing the legend that was Wayne (aka Rutter, Ruttski, Ruttdog) other than to say we miss him daily. We all shared so many funny times together and his larger than life personality and heart of gold has left a void that won't be filled.

As per the lovely tribute from Faye, "Nobody could HAKA like he could, he was the king of "power playyyyy" and the former shark. He was one of the best sales people we had because people just LOVED him (although his admin skills may have been questionable). Yes he could be an absolute nightmare at times but Wayne had the biggest heart. He will be missed so much by all of us in the team and everyone that ever had the pleasure of working with or knowing him."

Above all else Wayne was a loyal friend, lending an ear when needed and always making us all laugh. If everyone that loved Wayne like we did can contribute just a pound, we’ll raise thousands for an amazing charity. We have selected this charity with Wayne's families support, Air Ambulance is close to their hearts as they were deployed when Wayne passed. They are an amazing charity who provide an incredible service. Please see more information below...

Every day of the year, your local air ambulance is helping save more lives. Our critical care paramedics, doctors and pilots attend an average of five rescue missions a day. The air ambulance gives people the very best chance of survival and recovery. We are supported by a Critical Care Car meaning that we can reach those who need us 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Any donation you can spare will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again if you supported us in either attempt, it means a lot. Rest in peace Waynos xx
