UPDATE - 11TH JULY
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and making a pledge.
Well it's over, and I completed the run in 62 minutes, even with a bad knee and little training during the last 6 weeks. I would like to thank everyone who have offered support, especially those who have been kind enough to pledge financial support - thank you all.
As you are all aware, this is the first time I have attempted to run any distance in a straight line, so your support and encouragement is gratefully appreciated. Training started on Friday 23rd April, some 45 minutes after investing in my first pair of running shoes - I hope they remain comfortable! Managed around 1/2 mile that first evening, before realising you have to be able to breath, to run - let the training commence...
My initial target is to finish in under 80 minutes, I hope to improve on this if training goes well - and if not, just finish.
(updated 14th June) Then in mid May I strained my knee, restricting me for three weeks. But from Sunday 13th June my training has recommenced, with a very slow 4.5 mile jog. Hopefully the next 4 weeks will pass without further injury, and if it does, my new target is <60 minutes!
