I’m doing a 10 day charity trek in along a section of the . It starts in the foothills of Mt Longdio (near Kilimanjaro) and finishes at the Ngorongoro Crater (world famous for wildlife). The trek, lead by Maasai guides, averages approx 22km a day in very hot temperatures. We will be camping out every night in the wild African bush. Why am I doing this? My mum passed away recently. We were very close and I’m doing this trek in her memory. Mum was incredibly brave and strong and always rose to the challenge. I hope to show some of her strength by completing this trek. Walking long distances in the heat will be a real personal challenge, (most people reading this will know that my holiday destinations usually feature snow and temperatures of -20!).
