Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Sunday 11
th April 2010 I will be running/jogging/falling/crawling
but hopefully finishing the Connemara Marathon in Galway West Ireland.
This savagely hilly, windy and probably wet 26.2 mile trek will be the
first competitive running race I have taken part in since Tutshill Primary
School fun run 1993 but I have started training and had a look through a copy
of runners world so am hopeful that I will acquit myself well.
I will be running this marathon for the Badger Trust who promote the
conservation and welfare of badgers. In the last few years much of the Badger Trust’s work has been
focused on campaigning against a potential cull of badgers, which the National
Farmers Union has been advocating in the vain hope that this will eliminate
bovine tuberculosis in
cattle. The work of the badger trust is particularly important at the moment
as they campaign against the first large-scale Badger cull that the Welsh
government is planning in areas of Wales this summer.
