Bristol 10k 2012 · 20 May 2012

Portage is a regular home-visiting educational service for under 5s with additional support needs and their families. Personalised play and learning, goals and support are offered to involve the family in the care and development of the child, focussing on their child's development, building on abilities and strengths, not difficulties.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the Sales Excellence JustGiving page. Six months ago, six of us decided that we needed a goal to motivate us to get fitter and at the same time we wanted to support people coping with big challenges in their lives. So we decided to run the Bristol 10k in support of the National Portage Association and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Some of us have been training hard from a low starting point and others just seem to have been born with wings on their ankles, but we're all now looking forward to it, and will be very much supporting one another on the day.

We've chosen two very different charities, but both have personal significance to members of the team. Our challenge is tiny compared with the challenges faced by children born with serious disabilities and their families. National Portage supports those families through the pre-school years and makes a huge difference to their lives. Macmillan needs no introduction, providing practical support and advice to people living with cancer and those close to them.

It's brilliant that you are supporting us with a donation to one of our charities, but if you feel able to donate to both our chosen charities, that would be even more brilliant!

Thank you.
