Story
As most of you know I was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer
four weeks after giving birth to my lovely Laila. Having four
children in itself was always going to be a challenge.....
Diagnosis of breast cancer so soon after Laila's birth was a
hideous ordeal which I hope and pray none of you ever experience.
Looking after four little children following a mastectomy, whilst
on chemotherapy and radiotherapy has been incredibly difficult
physically, emotionally, and practically. I was and
still am incredibly lucky to have my amazingly strong family and friends by my
side through out it all. Dominic, Mum and Dad, My sister, My big boys,
Aunty Ros,Vicky and Sylvia have been incredibly supportive but my
family are a long way away and I've needed extra help along the way.
Some where along the line someone mentioned Breast Friends.....
Breast Friends Solihull helps local ladies from the initial diagnosis, when much seems frightening and unknown, all through treatment and recovery. They are a group of positive, spirited ladies who have all experienced breast cancer. The group is run voluntarily and is supported by the expertise of consultant surgeons, oncologists, specialist doctors and nurses, who are committed to providing the best treatment for breast cancer patients. They offer financial, practical and emotional support to women like myself. Now I am finally feeling myself again I would like to give something back. I think it will be a fast walk rather than a run with all the kids but hopefully we'll have some fun and finish!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity
and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a
UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise
more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Lots of love and thanks to you all!
