Story

About Youthscape

We are a group of second year MMU students studying events management working collectively under the title ‘Youthscape’ and are collaborating with GMYN to give youth:

  1. the opportunity to develop themselves,
  2. provide an outlet for entertainment during lockdown in a time where it is hard to find opportunities,
  3. involve them in an event that can help create a sense of community - meeting people with similar interests that might be having a difficult time during the pandemic,
  4. diminish the sense of loneliness and isolation that the pandemic has brought,
  5. bring fun and entertainment to Young people included in our target market

How are we going to achieve these objectives?

We are hosting a two session event on the 15th of April.

The first session of our event will be a DJ workshop on Zoom, using Ableton, a music production software freely available online. The workshop will be led by Chris Cue, a fully qualified tutor and professional DJ. The music played and taught will be in the genre of Tech-House.

The second session of the event will consist of a DJ live stream that is open to the public and will be. It will be free to attend, but a donations link will be established to encourage contributions to a charity.

How will Youthscape help GMYN

  • All money raised by the event will go to GMYN
  • Raising awareness within the target age group of the opportunities GMYN can offer them with their development programmes and drop-in activities
  • Providing a development programme to supplement GMYN activities with the mentoring session
  • Youthscape will provide entertainment and fun, helping young people's mental health which is in line with GMYN's strategy.
