Amazing as it may seem, I am running (yes, that is right RUNNING) 5k for Breakthrough Breastcancer on Sunday.  I have put in LOTS of hard work, and am looking forward to crossing the finishing line without having walked a single step (I am not promising that I won't collapse in a heap afterwards, or that I won't need much rehydration in the way of copious amounts of celebratory beverages, but I will run all the way). If you know me well, you will know how much will power and effort this has taken, and if you don't know me that well, I probably won't be asking you to suport me!

To spur me on my way, I'd be really grateful if you would consider sponsoring me (you knew there'd be an ask in there somewhere didn't you?). Anyway, I'd be really grateful if you would sponsor me £1 a kilometre (ie £5) or £1 per mile if you are really skint (ie £3.30).  I've set my target high, so please do give me more than this if you can (thoughtful and proportionate is a lovely little phrase!).

Breakthrough Breastcancer is a fabulous charity.  It is only 12 years old and was founded in memory of a family's loved one who didn't survive the battle with breast cancer.  With support, they created a centre of excellence for breast cancer research, with experts working under one roof on a coordinated programme of research. Currently, seven teams work side by side on a coordinated research programme, unravelling the causes and mechanisms of this disease.

I know someone who has been affected by breast cancer, and I am sure you do too.  I'll be thinking about them when I am running, please think about the person you know when you give.
