Story
From the 23 Feb 2015, Abigail (age 10) will swim 14 and Samara (age 8) also trying but 9 laps will do (in a 25m pool) every day (mon - fri) for 14 weeks - that is 105 laps per week and a whopping total of 1470 laps each. They will do this between 8h30 and 9h00 every morning - so please think of them on your school runs, way to work, waking up, while they are slogging away at it. Also feel free to encourage them via e-mail, my facebook, by post, on the phone etc. I'm sure they would love this as the weeks drags on...
As most of you know, Abigail was diagnosed at age 5 with Type 1 Diabetes. It was quite life-altering and traumatic at the time and continues presenting us with tough challenges to date. However, she seems unfazed - which is always good - and together, the sisters they decided to take on fundraising for their charity, Diabetes UK. They are particularly excited as Diabetes UK is busy with research for stem cell transplant of the pancreas Islets (beta cells) that produces insullin - which if successful could mean that Abigail might in future have this (be cured). HOW AMAZING!!! By doing this fund-raising, they both feel like they are actively being a part of changing Abigail's future - which is lovely! I have never seen them so excited!
