Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We have completed the 3 peaks!! 7 of us managed all 3 in 29hours! An amazing achievement for an amazing charity. Thank you for all your donations so far! Our blisters are worth it just for that!

On the 6th August 2010 our group of 9 walkers and 3 drivers are setting out from  Bath, Exeter, London and Pentyrch to attempt the 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society. The challenge involves reaching the summits of Ben Nevis (1344m Scotland), Scafell Pike (978m England) and Snowdon (1085m Wales) all in as close to 24hours as we possibly can!! It involves 25miles of walking and over 450 miles of driving in only 24hours - a massive challenge for all of us involved.

Our group consists of:

Adi Barritt, Sophie Bottwood, Catrin Clee, Elen Clee, Matthew Cross, Beth Duddy, Kat Feather, Lizzie Gibbon and Deborah Thomas. We have also roped in 3 amazing drivers without whom this couldn't happen: Pat Clee, Charlie Cross and Jo Cross.

As a group we are committed to raising money for The Alzheimer's Society, a charity close to all of our hearts as many members of the group have felt the heartache of slowly losing loved family members to forms of dementia which now affects around 700,000 people in the UK alone. We have lost the company of Grandparents, fathers and husbands due to this condition and hope to raise as much money as possible to help find a treatments and support sufferers and their families.

We are walking in memory of:

Robert George Baldock and William Clee

and for Josie Bottwood

Alzheimer's society staff and volunteers provide local information and over 2,000 services across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to people affected by dementia in their communities. Their local services include day care and home care for people with dementia as well as support and befriending services to help partners and families cope with the demands of caring. The charity invests around £1.5million in their research programme every year to try and improve quality of life for sufferers and their families.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. This is an absolutely massive challenge for all of us: some of which had never been to the top of a mountain till now.

Thank you for your support.
