Ok basically I'm taking part in a mass hitch-hike all the way to Morocco with Rory over the Easter break. We'll be leaving home and travelling under our own steam (whilst, importantly, not paying for any transport) until we reach Marrakech. This is part of a massive event supported by Link Community Development, a charity working to develop educational programmes in Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi and South Africa.
Everything that we raise in aid of this will go directly to the charity - plus a little bit more (25%) with the help of GiftAid if you're a UK taxpayer - so you're not just paying for us to take a holiday around Europe if you choose to make a donation. We cover all of our own expenses and have to find our own way back from Morocco once we eventually arrive at our destination.
If you can find your way towards even making a very small donation it would be very much appreciated. Itemised donations won't be listed on this page so you needn't worry about anonymity when thinking of donating. This is going to be great fun for the two of us but it'll also be quite difficult in terms of actually travelling 1,600 miles and not paying for the privilege! Ultimately it's important to remember that any money you donate will go directly to the LCD and promote grassroots charity work in impoverished African communities.
If you'd like more information on the trip or the Link Community Development organisation just send me a quick email or visit the LCD website here: http://www.lcd.org.uk/
Thanks for taking some interest in this and taking the time to read my page. Hopefully now you're ready to make a donation and set us on the way toward and beyond our £350 fundraising target!
Just click the 'Sponsor Me Now' button below if you'd like to make a donation!
I'll be posting regular updates to this page and our facebook group with information about the planning process and how our fundraising is going. Also we'll make sure to post lots of photos from the trip once we're home safe afterwards!
Thanks,
Alan.
