Story
Hello everyone and welcome to my fundraising page.
It has always been a personal ambition of mine to do a marathon yet somehow my lifestyle and commitment to other pursuits always got in the way of training...you can't do nearly 40kms with a benson on the go can you really?
Nick and I did the the Wilmslow Half Marathon earlier this year, and whilst I was 1.30 off breaking the course record (1 hour 30 minutes), I was amazed I made it round at all without the help of the NHS. I then found out that Berlin was the flattest marathon in the world and hence where world records are set .
We both decided that if we were going to do something this daft, we should do it for a worthwhile cause which is why we have chosen to do this for the Macmillan Nurses.
My own reasons for this are their incredible support in the last few weeks of my Dad's life, and with the race being run 2 days after the 10th anniversary of his death, I felt it would be a fitting tribute to him. For his own part, Nick's wife Al, is also heavily involved with Macmillan through her work as a dietician.
Any help you are able to give us in raising some money for Macmillan would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your support.
All the best,
Alastair and Nick
