Story
We did it...after 23 hours and 15 minutes of climbing, running, wading and sliding through snow drifts, mountain scree, a surprising number of sodden bogs and the occassional snow storm, we returned to the final drop off point at the car park on Mt Snowdon. We had already trudged to the summits and back of both Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike- the latter in pitch darkness. We were all pretty exhausted, but elated at completing the challenge in time and as a team, and by the relative lack of blisters and pressure sores, although there were quite a few seriously creaking knees!
We all wanted to offer our sincere thanks to all for your interest, kind donations and encouragement throughout. It has been outstanding, and we are delighted to have been able to raise the funds we have for such a great charity- Combat Stress. We know the money will be well spent.
Finally, in case you wanted to know, all of us are more or less walking again, although perhaps a little more slowly than usual, and avoiding stairs where possible!
Many thanks and best regards,
Alex, Anthony, Charles, Lars, Alex, Ben, Charlie and Cris
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page!
On Friday, 11'th April this year, our team of (currently 8) "crack" former soldiers and sympathetic civilian friends will seek to climb the three highest mountains in Britain- Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in the English Lake District and Mount Snowdon in North Wales- on behalf of Combat Stress, the only charity dedicated to providing welfare and support to former British servicepeople suffering from deep trauma experienced on active service.
We've set a fundraising target of ₤10,000, but ultimately, we just want to raise as much money as we possibly can for this excellent charity...oh, and to complete the challenge itself within 24 hours, which is the hard bit. We intend to set off from Ben Nevis, drive up to Scafell and finish up on Mount Snowdon, assuming adequate map reading skills and sufficient blister tape.
We would really appreciate whatever donation you felt able to give. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: COMBAT STRESS will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
Best regards,
Alex, Anthony, Charles, Lars, Alex, Ben, Charlie and Cris
