For the reasons below, I am challenging myself to learn three songs to play on guitar and sing, to raise money for Open Theatre Company. I can sort of play guitar, but due to a dire commitment to perfectionism, managing to learn a song from start to finish has basically never happened...

I work for this theatre company and I am extremely proud of it. I can say for sure that any money you donate to support this campaign will make meaningful and deeply significant experiences happen for a range of truly worthy, talented, passionate and dedicated people.

I will provide video evidence of my efforts... I would like each of my sponsors to submit one suggestion of a song for me to sing and play on guitar. When I have reached my target of 30 sponsors, I will write all of the song titles on pieces of paper, put them into a hat and pick three at random, which I will film as proof that I didn’t just pick the easiest songs to learn... You have the power to select any single song of your choice, however, I ask that you consider the realistic transferability of the song - for instance, Skrillex is great, but I don’t think I could translate one of his tracks to acoustic guitar... 🤪

For 30 years, Open Theatre has used nonverbal physical theatre to collaborate with young people with learning disabilities, creating quality theatre, film and outdoor events which reflect and celebrate their unique creativity. We work with over 1,500 young people in special schools every single year. We need your help to support these young people in their next steps into adulthood. Your support will help to create new opportunities for 50 young people to take centre-stage, including professional productions, mentoring from established artists, training, networking opportunities, and more.
