**Update**
Alfie is now fast approaching 7 month old (in 3 days as I write this, 12/10/15), his chemotherapy stopped in July, due to his line getting remove due to an infection and getting sepsis - it was an awful, terrifying week and a half, he was so unwell but still smiled and braved through! As of his last EUA at Birmingham (28/09/15) all treatment has been halted as he's responded so well, keep fighting my little dude! Although we no longer use Candlelighters they have left a lasting impression on us as a family and I couldn't find the words to thank them for their time and support - from help with Alfie, playing with him (here I make a shoutout to Alfies favourite Candlelighter *Lisa!!*, but he loved you all!) and giving us a break for a cuppa or food shopping, to listening to us rant in frustration, asking how not only how Alfie was but we were as a family, to lending me a hand and an ear when I was in on my own, down to the financial support they offer!
In short, I want to keep the funds going to this group of fabulous people for all the continuous support they offer families battling cancer from day 1, so I'm keeping this page flowing and hopefully in time we'll have other events popping up as well as small fundraisers I'll be doing personally! Xx
**Original Story!**
Alfie is 3 months old and is currently undergoing chemotherapy for retinoblastoma at Leeds General Infirmary where Candlelighters are based! During our few months at L.G.I. they have helped us out plenty by looking after Alfie to give us a small break, popping in for a chat and offering advice and support!
Not only have Candlelighters helped ourselves, they help many families who are receiving treatment at L.G.I on a day-to-day basis and we'd like to give something back to say thank you for their help during our stays in hospital.
Our family friend has decided to do a bike ride from his home in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire to our home in Scarborough, North Yorkshire on the 25th July 2015 to raise funds for Candlelighters - he's hoping to complete this in 5/6 hours time, let's hope he beats it! We already have plenty of sponsors on paper so now hopefully we'll get some more to add here!
