Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page

During June/July 2009 i will be taking part in the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge Race. I have been selected to sail from Bermuda - Charleston - Boston - Halifax. I am Sailing with the Rona Trust on board their boat Rona II, a 68ft ketch, along with 22 other people.

The Rona Trust is a charity whose aim is to provide opportunities for young people aged 16-25 and people with physical, or mental dissabilities; by taking them sailing on week long voyages on board one of their four sail training yachts. The aim of the voyages is give the crew a sense of responsibilty, resourcefulness and above all team work, in a new and challenging environment.

The trust has given me some of the best experiences off my life and i look to add to them with this voyage, the amount i need to raise is a small fraction of the total cost, and is helping a charity which really does change peoples lives.

I have been selected to sail as a Watch Leader in one of the most challenging environments, the Atlantic. this means I will be responsible for a watch of 5 crew, leading them through all the tasks of sailing the boat, whilst at the same time fulfilling all of the above qualities, under race conditions. It is a committment and a challenge that I am greatly looking forward to.

I am currently planning fund raising challenges, details of which will be put up here as soon as i can confirm that i will be carrying them out.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Rona Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

All sponsorship is greatly appreciated.
