Story
Hi All
June 2008 saw my very very dear friend Jo being diagnosed with ovarian cancer (stage 3c). The news was a tremendous shock to us all but Jo, being Jo, dealt with the whole situation in her true determined ‘I will get through this whatever it takes’ attitude and after surgery and chemo, I am really pleased to say she is on the mend.
At a recent ‘gathering’, Jo announced that she was going to enter the Reading Half Marathon by way of raising some money for charity as she wanted to give something back to those who helped her through her treatment. Those of us that were there at that ‘gathering’ were not really in a position to say ‘no’ when the gauntlet was thrown down for certain members to do the same and enter too! Anyway, I have entered and am totally committed to run this and raise as much money as I can and I need you all to help me achieve this goal. It is probably important to say at this point, I hung up my Half Marathon running shoes some ten years ago when I was 3 stone lighter but this is the kind of challenge I can rise too!
So, please dig deep and sponsor me. I have set a target of £1000 but would love to ‘smash’ this total and with your help, I am sure it can be done!
Reading Half Marathon - bring it on!
Many thanks for your support.
Al
