Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Prostate Cancer Charity gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. I and four other work colleagues (Peter Murphy, Paul Gordon, Neil Leonard and Stephen Rogers) will be running in the relay for the 2009 Belfast City Marathon in aid of The Prostate Cancer Charity. The team is called "The Lab Rats" , a reference to the clinical trial I have volunteered for at Belfast City Hospital. I have never entered a marathon before nor do I have any running experience but I am in training and I will finish! I was diagnosed with an advanced form of the disease in Feb 2008 at the age of 51 (no symptoms) and would like to raise awareness amongst men of the danger of ignorance of this disease, the most common cancer in men in the UK. The Prostate Cancer Charity has been of enormous help to me and I would like to repay their efforts and help fund the research that will one day eliminate the terrible death toll from this illness, especially among younger men like myself. If you're a man in his mid forties onwards find out about the PSA test. It only involves a small sample of blood and may save your life. This is a totally curable cancer provided it's caught early enough so be aware!
Special thanks to Hays (my employer) , BT, Singularity , Asidua and The Irish Congress of Trade Unions for their support. I would also like to thank the officers and players of Carrickfergus Rugby Club for helping me raise awareness during their annual Rugby Sevens event

Last but not least I would like to thank my former colleagues at AES Kilroot for their help and kindness.
Please sponsor me now!
