ASSIST works with people in Sheffield who have been refused asylum in the UK. They are evicted from their Home Office accommodation and forced into destitution. We provide our clients with stable, dignified accommodation, regular financial support and a person-centred casework service.

Story

Hi. Thanks for visiting one of my fundraising pages.

So I did it!! In 1hr 47min which I was very chuffed with. But I could definately do better.... so have signed up for another one on the 4th July in London. This time a 'challenge' distance which means 800m swim (in a lake), 30k bike (on road this time) and 7.5k run.

This site stays open for another 3 months so just after the next one... so that must be worth a few quid eh?

I've chosen 2 charities, this one which is local to Sheffield providing financial and practical support for destitute asylum seekers in the city.

I'm also supporting a Christian charity called Tearfund which is working to overcome global poverty by tackling 5 areas: HIV; challenging injustice; tackling disasters; climate change & water, sanitation and basic services.  Check out www.justgiving.com/allyhobbsabroad if you prefer to give to that one.... Or why not split your donation between the two?
