Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Well for those of you now logging in, my time was 3hrs 23 mins.I achieved my main aim of sub 3hr 30 and passing the 20 mile mark at 2hr 26,I felt I was onto achieving sub 3hr 15 but after 22 miles the legs gave up.After that it was a case of limping and staggering to the finish line to meet my family.
Despite the experience of the last 4 miles I have future marathons in mind.
The last 3 years coming to terms with my illness (crohn's) has been very hard not just for me but my family as well.
Everyone around me was used to seeing me being very active until I felt at my worst which led to me being admitted to hospital for over 2 weeks last year.
During those day's I thought I would not be able to do the sporting events which I was used to taking part in.
The Edinburgh marathon was not just another marathon to me,it was about being able to give something back to the NACC for the help I have had on their website and speaking to some of their members and understanding staff. Their staff were also there at the finish to provide excellent post race support. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease - NACC will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support and kind donations. AL Macpherson.
