We fund research to stop prostate cancer killing men

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

As some of you may well know my father was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer while I was at school. He underwent successful treatment and has been in remission for more than ten years now. Obviously this is fantastic news for him and us, however there are still huge numbers of men suffering from the condition.

As a teacher in a predominantly all boys school I am conscious that many of the pupils I teach might well either be affected by Prostrate cancer or have somebody in their life that is in future. As a result I would like to raise as much money as possible for The Prostrate Cancer Charity.

I have given some thought over recent years as to how best I might raise money and was inspired by Tom Newman, a school friend who himself has raised huge amounts of money into recent years, to take on triathlon. Those of you who have seen me swim might see this as a step too far and at the moment and they might be right so I intend to start with duathlon first (the running and cycling bits).

So further to the Run to the beat half marathon I will also be taking part in the London Duathlon in Richmond Park on the 13th of September.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated as would any support on either race days. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Prostate Cancer Charity will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Thank you!

Best Wishes

Andrew Ross
