MARATHON- RUN!
Thanks for all the sponsorship received- I have effectively raised £10 for every mile run so that is great!
I ran it in 4hours and 13 minutes, which is not bad with a fully strapped up left leg, I could barely bend it! So the last 10k was particularly well-earned... and so was the steak and beer dinner at the airport.
Best,
Caroline x.
Thanks for checking this out.
When I started marathon training I didn't realise it would be this difficult. Sunday runs aren't fun anymore and we are adding sprints within the other 3 weekly runs. My knees and back are knackered but........ everday I'm genuinely and ecstatically thankful that my body is healthy and I am able to do it.
The thing is, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) makes doing any exercise really hard..... and punishes you or it for days afterwards. It makes even getting out of bed hard for some people. It causes random symptoms at inconvenient moments that if you didn't laugh, might make you cry.
I mention this because as I grow older I notice more and more people that I know are affected, or know people that are affected, by this illness. It started with my mums sister, then my father and today I come into contact with the many patients that are suffering the psychological fallout through our service, Bristol Rightsteps.
Sufferers and their supporters are working hard to help to try and improve quality of life. But it would be really great to see that we are moving closer to a cure for MS. A cure which may mean a sigh of relief for those people who at the moment don't know how long before their next attack or if it might leave them much worse off.

10 pence for every mile run is more than enough and I will be very grateful for your support.
