Story
HUGE thank you to everyone who came to my charity auction and race night! You wonderful people helped me to raise £5615.50 in four hours. It was a fantastic evening and I was overwhelmed by the support and generosity that I recieved from everyone before and during the event. xxx
In September my little cousin Harry lost his battle with a genetic disease. Harry was only seven years old but in his short life he managed to touch so many lives. Despite losing his ability to eat, talk, walk and do anything a normal seven year old should be able to do, Harry kept his smile to the end. Harry is my inspiration. Every day we had with Harry was a blessing, and he made me realise how precious life is and made me realise that we should live life to the full.
In August 2011, im going to climb to Mount Everest's Base Camp. Those of you who know me will know that this is something totally out of character! But i'm doing this in memory of Harry, and i'm going to be raising money for charity at the same time.
The money I raise will go to a charity called Sparks. www.sparks.org.uk
Sparks helps fund high quality medical research into childhood diseases and tries to help babies with medical conditions be born healthy and stay healthy.
Without charities like Sparks, we wouldnt have had those special seven years with Harry. They fund research into Niemann Pick Disease which is what Harry had. And they also help children who have heart problems in infancy, which is another problem Harry faced.
The money I raise will save someone the pain of losing their child. I can't really think of a better reason to climb this mountain, can you?
Any donations will be hugely appreciated!
