Story

Hi guys, as you may already know I will be running the Cardiff Half Marathon (my very first) on 17th October this year.  Rather than run for the sheer fun of it (ha!) I have decided it is a great opportunity to do some fundraising for the Royal Marines Benevolent Fund.

As a family we have connections to the men serving with 40 Commando Royal Marines. They are coming to the end of a seven month operational tour in Afghanistan serving on the front line.  These brave men have come into contact with many life changing circumstances whilst in Afghanistan, most of these being injuries and unfortunately sixteen men have lost their lives.

Regrettably some injuries involve the amputation of limbs. Due to the traumatic nature of this event individuals need intense support, rehabilitation and physiotherapy. They must learn how to use new prosthetic limbs and this is both mentally and physically exhausting for the individual and family involved.

This is where the Royal Marines Benevolent Fund comes into the picture:
‘The RMBF was formed to relieve need, distress or hardship suffered by any person who is serving, has served or is a dependant of a Royal Marine, irrespective of rank. It also provides immediately on the death of either a serving RM or a reservist on duty a sum of money for the next of kin to help them cope with any pressing financial matters.’  http://tempuri.org/tempuri.html

Please donate as generously as possible for such an essential and appreciated service, and a very worthwhile cause at this time especially.

Many thanks, Amy x

ps. If I look like this at the finishing line at least the embarrassment will all be for a good cause ey!?!?! ......
