Story

Hello everyone,

After years of running, I'm finally going to do a big one, The London Marathon. I'll spare you the story about how I got myself into this, but I did say that if I ever was going to run a marathon, I was not going to bumble around, I was going to go for it.

THE TARGET IS 3 HOURS. Completely NUTS for a first time marathon.

I got a place in the race by ballot and had no plans to run for a charity, but then before Christmas I heard that an old friend of mine, David Heaton-Ellis was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Just to cheer you up average life expectancy is 3 years from first symptoms and 20 months from diagnosis. There is no specific test for MND and no effective treatment. The family have set up the Heaton-Ellis Trust to raise money to fund the purchase of equipment and research in London, the attached video has David explain it all.

So instead of just running for ego (which was the original idea), I'm going to run for David's charity.

Training
Well it started slowly last October, and holy cow, I've not been this fit since Uni. Training from late Jan is every day now, and due to work its usually at some crazy hour when its dark and cold, like 6am. But thanks to modern technology I can share my pain with you (lucky you).  Follow my huffing and puffing, cursing and crying, via my wall on Facebook.

Thanks so much for helping out.
