We work in developing countries to support people with deafblindness

Story

Having successfully raised money for Sense International by Trekking to the top of  Mount Kilimanjaro in October 2004.....Andy Georgiou has again answered the call from Sense International to trek to Everest Base Camp (I think it's called 'mid-life crisis').

Sense International is the only International Charity that works exclusively with deafblind people in developing countries.

Andy and a team of 15 people will be trekking to just above Everest Base Camp to a height of 5,666m (18,589 feet), were temperatures plummet to -15°C and oxygen levels are about half the amount of sea level. At high altitude everything becomes hard work. It feels like you are breathing through a vacuum-cleaner with the power turned on. A few tiny steps at a time and you are panting like you've just run the marathon.

Andy will be trekking and acclimatising for 13 days and covering over 110 km in that time. "This is certainly not a walk in the park for me but when I’ve completed the trek (hopefully), coughing and wheezing, filthy dirty, sunburned, chapped and exhausted, knowing that as a team we will have improved the lives of a few more Deafblind children will make it truly worthwhile". Andy has made a commitment to raise a minimum of £5000 in sponsorship for Sense International but will need your help to do this.

Because 90% of what we learn about the world comes through sight and hearing, deafblind people in developing countries are among the most isolated people in the world. Almost all of them are denied their basic human rights, receiving no support at all and often rejected by their communities.

Sense International exists to do something about this in , Latin America, Central & Eastern Europe andEast Africato ensure that all deafblind people have access to exercise their right to be full and active members of society.

"Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sense International will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you".

“So please, sponsor me now and improve the quality of life of a deafblind child!”

Many thanks for your support.
