Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In a cruel twist I picked up a nasty new knee injury 2 weeks before the Edinburgh marathon. I was forced to withdraw, and only now am getting ready to start running again. I want to continue... The new plan is to sign up to the Loch Ness Marathon which is the end September or Edinburgh 2015... THis is going to require much more careful steady training to overcome the knee problem. I am determined to do this. Thank you to all who have provided support, it is much appreciated!

The **good news** is I am running for a charity that I owe a great deal to and they do a lot of excellent work.

As you may or may not know, during my late teens I underwent brain surgery (twice) to remove a benign tumour. The surgery was ultimately successful which gave me back certain freedoms that so many take for granted. Throughout most of my teens I suffered from epileptic like siezures, and it took several years and many hospital trips around the UK to find out what was causing these siezures, and ultimately the expertise and specialist equipement at Great Ormand Street Hospital discovered a brain tumour. The same excellent staff then went about removing the tumour.

GOSH Childrens Charity are responsible for raising the funds to purchase specialist equipement such as the MRI scanner that found my tumour, where other less powerful MRI scanners had failed. Having baffled medical experts around the country, perhpas you can imagine the relief when I finally got a diagnosis, and I am indebted not only to the excellent dedicated staff of GOSH but to the equipement inside the walls - equipement that GOSHCC raise money to purchase.

Of course, the charity do so much more than buying equipement; every donation helps Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity to provide the best facilities and equipment, research and develop new treatments, and support their remarkable patients and their families. Currently there are ambitious plans to rebuild most of the hospitla, amking it more spacious and comfortable for the kids who are being treated. Finally, the support that the charity provides is as important - no kid wants to be in hospital and the support provided to the kids and families is invaluable and all the staff are absolutely amazing.

So please dig deep and donate now.
