Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page as part of Trailtrikers.

I am participating in the Oxfam Trailwalker, as part of a team which includes one member, Naomi, who will take part in a wheelchair.

Naomi suffers from a rare condition called POEMS syndrome, which affects several of the systems of her body. In her case, it has led to loss of function in her feet, legs and hands, as well as cancer in her pelvis.

Naomi will shortly undergo a stem cell transplant, following one single, massive dose of chemotherapy. Her road to recovery will be a tough one, but in spite of this she wishes to be the first person to complete the UK Trailwalker in a wheelchair. She will be loaned an incredible chair, called a Mountain Trike, to help her achieve her goal. Her seven team mates, myself included, will be on hand to assist where necessary - particularly the tough, uphill sections.

The course is 100 km long, taking in the South Downs trail between Petersfield and Brighton. We will have to complete it in under 30 hours, including walking through the night. In order to be allowed to participate, we have to raise £3000 in donations to Oxfam, to help in their fight against poverty. This is where you come in!

To find out more about us and our team goal, please visit www.trailtrikers.com.

You will soon be able to donate via that site, or in the meantime via this page.
