Unfortunately it seems that my preparations may well not have been thorough enough after all as I had to visit to Inverness Hospital A&E on Sunday 1st June afternoon where the pains and swelling I had been experiencing in my right leg were diagnosed as medial tibial stress syndrome (shin splints). The treatment for this is rest and 2 weeks anti-inflams and the doctor advised me that I should cease and go home.
To say I am disappointed is an extreme understatement only achieving 120 miles in the 5.5 days of walking. I have never had problems with my shins before and this was not an injury I had contemplated.

I am very grateful to those that pledged so much money to me before and during the event and I am really sorry that I was unable to complete the target and I feel that I have let the Hospice down in not being able to continue and raise more money.
