Anthony Maynard Sportive · 5 June 2009

Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service is a local charity that provides specialist care and vital support to babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and their families, across Berkshire, South Bucks and surrounding counties.

Story

On 19 July I will be taking part in the inaugural Anthony Maynard Sportive. This cycling event has been organised by Reading Cycling Club in memory of one of their members, Anthony Maynard, who was tragically killed last July whilst out cycling with the club at the age of just 25. More information on the event is at the link below:

http://www.readingcyclingclub.com/anthonymaynardsportive/

The sportive starts in Theale, looping westwards towards Swindon and Marlborough before returning to Theale. The route is 190km long, and involves 20 climbs totalling 2,900 metres of ascent.

In riding the event, I’m hoping to raise as much money as possible for the Alexander Devine Children’s Cancer Trust. The long term aim for the trust is to build and fund a Children’s Hospice service in the Berkshire area. In order to build Alexander House an minimum of £1.6m needs to be raised to achieve this goal. Alexander House will be a home from home environment providing respite and quality time for the whole family, palliative care, specialist respite care, 24 hour emergency care, advice and bereavement information and support for the family. The trust’s website is http://www.adcct.com/

To facilitate my fundraising, I’ve set up a justgiving site (www.justgiving.com/andyjbriggs). I would be very grateful if you could spare a few minutes to visit the site and sponsor me in this event.

Thanks in advance for your support.

Andy
