Well folks, I did it! The photo on the left shows me dressed up in Macmillan regalia at the foot of the so called "b" steps. I leave you to guess what the b stands for! The Great Wall really is the biggest staircase in the world.
It was tough going as the steps were all shapes and sizes, but I had great support from the guides and fellow trekkers.
My journal and more photos will be on www.amalexander.co.uk in due course.

In April 2008 I'm trekking along a section of the Great Wall of China. The trek follows the contours of the mountains in remote areas north of Beijing along old sections of the Great Wall as well as restored sections with lots of steps!
I have done two previous treks for Macmillan and raised almost £12K for them. You can read about them on my website www.amalexander.co.uk I hope to add another £6k to that with this trek. As I am paying for all the flights and costs myself all your donation will go to the Charity.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support.
