We support seriously ill children to lead a positive and happy life

Story

I am completing the London Triathlon in order to raise money for the Richard House Hospice. I will be completing the Olympic Distance which is made up of a 1500m Swim, 40km Cycle and 10km Run!

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Richard House Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

Richard House, London’s first children’s hospice, is located in the Docklands area of East London. They support children and their families from east, north, south-east and central London.

Over the past six years they have provided care to hundreds of life-limited and life-threatened children from London, such as children with rare and incurable cancers, children with degenerative genetic conditions, or children waiting for major organ transplants.

They offer day care, short stays in our residential area, support in the home and family support, including befriending and bereavement services. In addition, there is always one bed set aside for emergency and end of life care.

They are here to help our children and young people make the most of the time they have, providing the opportunity for play and recreational activities and offering support and accommodation for parents and siblings.

Care is provided completely free to families. This means that this year they need to raise around £2 million in donations to provide these valuable services. Richard House is dependent upon the generosity and hard work of all of our supporters and volunteers.

HOW YOUR MONEY COULD HELP RICHARD HOUSE

£10 canStimulate an imagination

Your gift could purchase the materials needed to create a multi-sensory story pack for severely disabled children. For example, a blind child might be able to get involved with the story by feeling different objects, or by smelling and tasting food.

£25 can… Support for families

Your gift could pay for a family with a child who has a life-limiting or life-threatening condition to stay with their child at a hospice, by spending the night in one of our residential flats. This would include fresh family meals, laundry and housekeeping.

£35 can… Provide opportunities for fun and friends

Your gift could pay for a party for the brothers and sisters of children visiting Richard House. The Siblings’ Group regularly gets together at the bowling alley, cinema or the hospice itself, to share experiences and have fun with their peers.

£50 can… Pay for a day out

Your gift could pay for the costs of a minibus for a day, so that the children can spend a day out at the local park or sailing club.

£100 can… Provide practical assistance for disabled children

Your gift could pay for a highly-trained paediatric physiotherapist to visit Richard House, and work ‘hands on’ with the children who visit us. This will make a lasting difference, as it will help us to increase the children’s mobility, and reduce their discomfort.

£250 can… Pay for something very snazzy

Your gift could help us pay for a library of educational CDs and DVDs, enabling children and young people to visit Richard House Children’s Hospice to learn aboutLondon ’s diverse cultures, and about sensitive issues such as illness, disability and death.
