As I approach my 50th birthday, and invite you all to join me on the 12th September for a night to remember, I wanted to give everyone the option of donating to a specific project Oxfam are running, rather than scour the shops for something i would undoutedly like but not neccessarily need! I have chosen an education project which aims to improve the quality of teaching and provide water for schools in Tanzania.

Why education? We are all lucky in this country that our children are given a decent education and a good start in life, whatever they may choose to do with it! In Tanzania, with a population of 38.5 million, 89.9% of people live on less than $2 a day and the adult illiteracy rate is over 30% of age 15+. This project has been successfully running since 2003 but is in a new three year phase. I hope that whilst enjoying a wonderful evening with family and friends, we will raise money for a better education and a better start in life for children in Tanzania.
