We raise funds for The National Hospital to improve the lives of neurology patients

Story

I will be running the London Marathon to raise funds for the National Hospital Development Fountation in memory of my husbands cousin, Geoff Ashcroft who died of a Brain Tumour on the morning of the London Marathon 2008. I want to help make a difference for all sufferers for neurological disorders in the future by supporting the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: National Hospital Development Foundation gets your money faster and Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Well, it is all over now and the sun certainly shone down upon us. I did finish but unfortunately an injury to my back meant that I was not up to running the whole distance so I had to resort to mostly walking the last 10 miles. I was just about on target to achieve my 5 ish hours at the half way but because of the slow down my final time was 5hrs 49 mins. I am disappointed that I was unable to achieve my target but so thrilled that I was able to finish, especially as it was in support of such a worthy cause.

About the charity

There are 14.7million people – that’s more than one in six – in the UK living with a neurological condition. Here at the country's leading neurological centre, we’re passionate about supporting the hospital to help improve the lives of patients through treatment and research.
