Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Society will receive your money faster.

Please do not click the Gift Aid button, they can not get the tax back until I have raised £2,600.

I am not stereotypical adventure holiday material; I am 54 years old and until I decided to take up this challenge I was very unfit. The reason that I am doing this trek on the Inca trail is to raise money but also to raise awareness, particularly of young people who have Alzheimer's. My husband is 57 years old (or young) and he was diagnosed in 1999, three years after losing his job due to Alzheimer's. With faster diagnosis and treatment a great deal of heartache could have been avoided. More publicity is the key, more awareness in society as a whole. In the area around Nottingham there are estimated to be 200 people under 65 who have Alzheimer's, not all of them have the help that they need.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
