Story

OK - Finished the marathon. This getting fitter idea was obviously a little silly!

Overall time was 5:55 ish....a rather disappointing time although the first bit of the marathon was done at an average speed of 7.1mph. Unfortunately an old achilles ankle injury marred performance a bit in the latter stages of the race.

gives profile details of the run.

A much hotter day than originally planned, so had a little help from St Johns Ambulance in converting my tracksuit trousers to shorts, and the bright orange wig I was wearing was removed at the half way point and replaced for the final pic at the end. Pictures of my rather fetching outfit will be posted in due course.

Definitely an incredible experience, which I'd recomment to all people that have issues with sanity. The crowds and support were fantastic, as was the encouragment of the other runners. I never realised just just how good Jelly Babies were when running, and have to thank the various people providing them around the route. Nicking sweets off little kids doesn't seem to give the right impression, but they were definitely appreciated! I'm also a little surprised at the number of pink fairies that overtook me in the last few miles.

Thanks also go to St Johns Ambulance that gave my foot a really good strapping and enabled me to finish with the minimum of pain. Those last 8 miles were a little traumatic!

Obviously thanks go out to all those that have been kind enough to donate. Once everything has been collected, I expect a grand total of about £1400, which will go some way to helping to improve the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves. I was aiming for £2000, so if anyone would like to make additional contributions to make my stupidity worthwhile, then additional donations will obviously be appreciated.

Final questions....Will I do it again? Am I nuts?.....Then again, it would be nice to get a sensible time;)

New Year's resolutions! Don't you love them! As always, the usual suspects:

1.     Get fitter.
2.     Eat more healthily.
3.     Get younger.

etc, have me wondering whether I'm on the insanity, or genius, side of the fine line.

To that end, I shall be running in the London Marathon this year.

Being the ambitious person I am, I'll be  aiming to raise a significant amount of sponsorship money. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sense - National Deafblind and Rubella Association gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

For those receiving remote computer assistance as part of my Another Mouse Limited work, I'd suggest a minimum donation of about £10 each time, although feel free to donate whatever you think my assistance is worth. Any amount is appreciated.

For the Stableminds community that I support free of charge, you may wish to have a look here:

http://www.anothermouse.com/sponsorship.html

Although, there is a PayPal payment link on the right hand side of the page, this site now accepts PayPal, and this is the most cost effective way to make your donation. Please provide your Stableminds identity, so  you can be suitably credited.

For Cambridge computer users, "Another Mouse" will be reducing charges for assisting home users with their computers by £10, and requesting that customer sponsors this particular novel 'weight loss' programme by any amount that they see fit:)

Obviously by 26th April,  I'll have been training so hard that I'll be a lean running machine easily capable of completing a marathon. I'll aim to post a pic of me after finishing the marathon sometime after the event, so you can see the results of the training:)

Please give generously.

Thankyou.
