Story
As many of you know, Cara was diagnosed five years ago this week with Type 1 diabetes. To say this has had a big impact on her life is an understatement--she wears an insulin pump round the clock, tests her blood many times a day and lives with the constant spectre of 'going low' or 'going high'. As great as the cost to her is the cost to society. Her medical supplies and pump cost thousands and if she devlops complications as she grows older, the cost is absolutely staggering. We are trying to break this cycle by helping JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), which is the most effective funder of diabetes research in the world find a cure. On the way, there have been many improvements to technology and treatment that have immeasurably helped Cara and have resulted from the research.
