Story
A year ago I didn't own a bike. The thought of cycling in this big city was terrifying and I relied on TfL to get me around. However, living with a cycle nut I was encouraged to join the cycling revolution. A year on with a good number of miles beneath my belt and a couple of (embarrassing) topples, I've removed my stabilisers I consider myself a fully fledged 'cyclist'!
I'm proud to say that I'm now confidently cycling my way to work (across London in rush hour) and I enjoy getting in the saddle whenever I can at weekends. Not only am I fitter but I think I'm aslo a happier person for embracing my two wheeled friend (his name is Mike BTW)
To mark this change in lifestyle I wanted to cement my status as a member of the cycling community by taking on the Ride London 100 Challenge. 100 miles of cycling from London to Surrey and back again – largely following the Olympic cycle route from 2012. My aim is to complete this challenge in 6 hours.
I’m doing this for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity: A place that I feel privileged and proud to work for. I’m doing this for the many children and families I’ve been lucky enough to know here and to make sure that we can continue offer hope to very sick children and their families for years to come.
