Hello everyone!

 

I am undertaking the challenge of my life! I'm braving extreme saddle sores in the name of a very worthy charity.

In September 2010 I will be cycling 450km across the Beijing Province as part of the Women for Women Cycle China Event. I will be among a group of about 80 women who will cycle for five days through areas of China that few westerners get to see. It is going to be tough and I will have to put in a lot of training but I know it will be worth it.

Women for Women raises funds to train women scientists and clinicians to work at the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Trust, empowering more women to lead in this field. They have recently rebranded to 'The Genesis Trust' which rolls off the tongue a bit easier! In the past they have developed the ultrasound test and the cervical smear test. They work to improve prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a range of devastating conditions which cause genetic diseases, miscarriage, infertility, cancer and brain damage. The fundamental aim is to improve women's health and to ensure that more women have a normal pregnancy with a healthy baby.

I have chosen to pay all the travel costs so any money you donate will go straight to the charity.

29th April 2010 - I've just done a 30 mile ride!

29th May 2010 - I've done a 43.5 mile ride - whoopee!

19th and 20th June 2010 - Fab training weekend in the Cotswolds. Did 86 miles on very hilly roads. Met lots of lovely people also going to China. Can't wait now!

4th July - Did 'The Stag Ride' from Mentmore - 50 miles!

France holiday - cycled 172 miles over 12 days.

15th August - Recreated the Stag Ride with Claire!

Have now lost a total of 67.5 lbs!
