Event: London Landmarks Half Marathon 2024, on 7 April 2024
Team: RFD
We are looking to raise funds to build an Outdoor Learning Community Centre with a café, shop, pottery studio at our site in Bookham, Surrey. The centre will provide training, work experience and paid employment for adults with learning disabilities.

Story

RFD has gone by many different definitions over the years. What started as a running club amongst sixth form students has branched into becoming an incentive which involves getting people into running and hopefully gaining donations along the way. It now stands for ‘Running For Donations.’ Local to The Bookham Grange Centre, a fantastic care home that caters towards people with disabilities, the team are privileged to run and raise money towards their new facilities in this years London Landmarks Half Marathon.

I'm helping raise funds for a local charity The Grange at Bookham.  This is a residential and day centre for adults with learning disabilities.  They are raising funds to build an Outdoor Learning and Community Centre, that they are hoping to start building in 2024. This will have a large cafe, shop and pottery open to the general public.  Not only will this enhance the local area but, at the same time it will give work experience and employment opportunities to people with learning disabilities, and expand the skills training The Grange can offer.
