Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. By coming to this page, you will have found out that for some ridiculous reason I am running in the New York Marathon on November 4th. The image on the left tells you what I think of this idea now.
In all seriousness, it is a great experience for me (please note it is not a race in my eyes - I am not going to "beat" too many other people or set too many world records) and I am delighted to be able to raise money for the Willow Foundation which is an amazing cause. I would be really grateful if you could sponsor me - as much or as little as possible; everything helps and your generosity is appreciated greatly!
The Willow Foundation was founded in 1999 by former Arsenal and Scotland goalkeeper and TV presenter, Bob Wilson and his wife, Megs, in memory of their daughter, Anna who died of cancer shortly before her 32nd birthday. The provision of special days by the Willow Foundation aims to provide young adults living with life-threatening conditions a chance to escape the pressures of their daily routine and share quality time with family and/or friends.
Every special day is of the young person's choosing - it could involve fulfilling a lifelong dream or it could simply offer an opportunity to bring some much needed normality back into their lives.
To date the charity has organised and funded special days for young adults living with a wide range of serious conditions including amongst others; cancer, motor neurone disease, cystic fibrosis, organ failure, multiple sclerosis (later stages) and heart disease.
This is such a worthwhile cause so many thanks for your generous support.
