This year I have decided to run the London Marathon – 42.2km or 26.2 miles. I have been a keen runner for a number of
years now, but have never taken on such a great challenge before. There are two key reasons for running the
Marathon in 2010; the first reason is to test myself and really push my mind
and body as hard as it can go. The second reason that I am running the
Marathon is to raise
money for Oxfam – a charity that is close to me. I have
pledged to raise £2,000
for Oxfam this year and I believe that by running the 2010 London
Marathon, I’ll be able to contribute to real change in people’s lives. Every
step that I take will hopefully be felt by poorer communities around the world
who are truly suffering in such difficult times. To be able to
reach my target of £2,000 I need 40 friends or
family members to donate £50 each or 80 people to donate £25 each. For the Aussie’s that’s
$100 or $50 each. Obviously, if you are unable to give these amounts, any
amount will help. The sooner I reach my target, the more motivated I will feel
running the marathon knowing how many people are out there supporting me! Thank you to
everyone in anticipation of your generous donation. I truly believe that even
though the London Marathon is an event that I am taking on individually, I will
have the thoughts and support of everyone I know, running with me every step of
the way.
