Well, here we go again....but this time I may have bitten off more than I can chew.
In three weeks' time, when you are all opening your Easter Eggs, Andrew Roberts ('Kiwi') and myself will be taking part in the Devizes Westminster canoe 'ultra' marathon, a 125 mile non-stop jaunt along the Kennet & Avon canal and the Thames.
Here are the facts: the non-stop version of the race is the longest non-stop canoe race in the world; a minimum support crew of four is required; the double canoe has to be carried around 77 locks; and last year 128 registered in the non-stop race, of which 67 retired.
Andrew and I are hoping to complete within 28-30 hours (with no sleep!) although Andrew insists we will be quicker. I sense a Cracknell-Fogle dynamic emerging....
I am raising money for my charity, ACE Africa - you can read more at www.ace-africa.org or glance to the left. I appreciate that we are all going through difficult times at present, but unfortunately there are still many orphaned children in East Africa who desperately need our help. Any contributions will be gratefully received.
Andrew's sister is currently undergoing chemotheraphy treatment for breast cancer and Andrew is raising funds for Cancer Research. You can read more on his website at http://www.justgiving.com/andrewroberts4
Many thanks in advance.
Ben
