Story
Thanks to everyone who supported us in Pedal for Scotland 2009 - Jane, Babzy, Emma, Jules, Fi and Ceri raised over £2,000. We've persuaded a number of new recruits this year, welcome to the sore bum club - Yvonne, Roz, Anne, Kathryn, Marie & Lorraine. The Bespoke Babes team will cycle 51 miles from Glasgow to Edinburgh on 12th September. Spectators welcome, especially those with tow ropes for the Avonbridge hills!
Our fundraising is in memory of Roz and Yv’s step neice, the beautiful Hayley Birch who sadly lost her battle against skin cancer in 2009 at age 25. In Hayley’s name, we are supporting Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres who offer a fantastic service to those dealing with cancer, their families and friends. A Maggie’s Centre is a place to turn for help with any of the problems, small or large, associated with cancer and where the staff provide the tools to help anyone deal with and tackle cancer as an individual rather than a patient.
We completed the event last year in < 4hrs 30mins plus several picnic stops. Training well underway for this year's event with less than four weeks to go!! So far no broken bones (touch wood) and no acrobatics from Babzy - all being well, we hope to improve on our time this year.
For those in the Stirling area, we're also planning a fund raising event locally later in the year - watch this space.
Thanks in advance for your support for the team in 2010.
